This video contains clips from classroom videos submitted by previous award winners.

One of the elements of the ALC award submission process is a 10-15 minute video of the applicant teaching a literacy lesson (or other literacy related activity depending upon your job description/position). Video captured on a smart phone or tablet, is perfectly acceptable. The video should showcase your normal teaching style and at least one "pan" shot from the back of your classroom.




2014 "Outstanding Contributions to Literacy" Award winners also receive a $500 grant to support a school-wide, grade level, or department literacy event or project.

ALC conducted a book donation drive for Katrina damaged Mississippi schools. Books were collected during the California Reading Association Annual Conference in Ontario, CA, in November 2005.
